- How the Parables of Jesus Revolutionize Life with God
139,95 kr. There is a striking difference between the way that most churches operate today and the way Jesus the conducted his ministry when he was on earth. Most churches today spend their time and resources trying to get people to come into their doors and join their fellowship. But Jesus didn't concern himself with trying to get followers. One time, he even responded to such a request by saying, "Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head" (Matthew 8:12). The implication to the person making the request was clear: Do you really want to be my follower and lead that kind of life?Instead, what we find in the Gospels is that the message Jesus taught--and in fact the sole message of the New Testament--was the nature and availability of the kingdom of God. It was now accessible to all people, both Jews and Gentiles alike. Jesus revealed much of these scandalous truths about God's kingdom through parables. Yet while these parables constitute some of his best-known teachings, they are also some of the least understood. Even the disciples weren't always sure what they meant. Perhaps this is why they asked Jesus, "Why do you speak to the people in parables" (Matthew 13:10). Jesus responded by saying, "Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, not to them" (verse 11). Jesus knew that while the kingdom of God was available to everyone, not everyone would have the desire to go through the work to "ask, seek, knock" and "receive" the truths that had come to bring (see Matthew 7:7-8).The Scandal of the Kingdom Workbook, which accompanies the book of the same name, presents carefully curated new material from the late Dallas Willard to help readers understand the heart of Jesus' key parables, why Jesus chose story to communicate life's deepest truths, and how these stories are still revolutionary (and even shocking) in showing us how to live out God's kingdom on earth today. With the rich insights and biblical scholarship common to all of Willard's works, this guide will help readers: Become more passionate about living the gospel in the full scope of Jesus' vision for themBetter share their faith with those who have become disillusioned with ChristianityUnlock the excitement of living in the upside-down kingdom of GodThe Scandal of the Kingdom Workbook is for anyone who: Wants to explore Jesus' teachings but are confused about what his parables meanLoves Dallas Willard's classic works such as The Divine Conspiracy and Life Without LackEnjoys deep teachings about spiritual formation from authors such as John Mark Comer, Richard Foster, and Eugene PetersonWants to share the gospel just as Jesus did during his ministry on earthThe truths of God's kingdom are available to us. Yet like the disciples, we must recognize that questioning, contemplating, and savoring the meaning of Jesus' stories are an important part of the journey.

228,95 kr. God's Plan for LeadersDallas Willard's bestselling book The Divine Conspiracy revolutionized how we understand Christian discipleship. Jesus is not a remote savior, waiting for us in heaven after we die, Willard taught, but a leader and teacher to whom we apprentice ourselves to fulfill what Jesus had in mind when he declared that the "kingdom of God has come." In The Divine Conspiracy Continued, Willard and theologian Gary Black Jr. lay out the next stage in God's plan as this generation's disciples enter into positions of leadership and transform the world from the inside out. Christians are not called to protect themselves from the world but to step into the world to lead and serve, and in doing so, bring the kingdom of God to earth.

298,95 kr. Take on the character of Christ through the transformation of your spirit. Most Christians know that we are not born again to remain the same. When we come to Christ, we are born into a new life and are no longer bound by the sin that once ensnared us. Why, then, do so many of us struggle to put to death recurring sins? Deep down we know that sheer willpower will never be enough to overcome the character flaws that plague us, and even the best intentions and promises to do better fall short. But there is hope.In this classic, bestselling book, Dallas Willard digs deep into the divine process of the transformation of the spirit. In this process, God changes us from the inside out and brings us into harmony with his will. Renovation of the Heart changed a generation's mind about what it means to follow Jesus, revealing that it is not a matter of sin management but rather a matter of drawing near and letting ourselves be shaped into the eternal people of God.This book offers no formula but rather a divine process that Christians are called into as followers of Jesus. It is only through the grace of God in Christ, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the spiritual treasures stored in the body of Christ that our transformation will be accomplished. This 20th anniversary edition contains several special features, including a new foreword and afterword from admirers and inheritors of Dallas's legacy, an index of the Scriptures that inform Dallas's vision, and an interview with Dallas about the book, available for the first time in print.

- Reclaiming Jesus's Essential Teachings on Discipleship
178,95 kr. The last command Jesus gave the church before he ascended to heaven was the Great Commission, the call for Christians to "e;make disciples of all the nations."e; But Christians have responded by making "e;Christians,"e; not "e;disciples."e; This, according to brilliant scholar and renowned Christian thinker Dallas Willard, has been the church's Great Omission."e;The word disciple occurs 269 times in the New Testament,"e; writes Willard. "e;Christian is found three times and was first introduced to refer precisely to disciples of Jesus. . . . The New Testament is a book about disciples, by disciples, and for disciples of Jesus Christ. But the point is not merely verbal. What is more important is that the kind of life we see in the earliest church is that of a special type of person. All of the assurances and benefits offered to humankind in the gospel evidently presuppose such a life and do not make realistic sense apart from it. The disciple of Jesus is not the deluxe or heavy-duty model of the Christian -- especially padded, textured, streamlined, and empowered for the fast lane on the straight and narrow way. He or she stands on the pages of the New Testament as the first level of basic transportation in the Kingdom of God."e;Willard boldly challenges the thought that we can be Christians without being disciples, or call ourselves Christians without applying this understanding of life in the Kingdom of God to every aspect of life on earth. He calls on believers to restore what should be the heart of Christianity -- being active disciples of Jesus Christ. Willard shows us that in the school of life, we are apprentices of the Teacher whose brilliance encourages us to rise above traditional church understanding and embrace the true meaning of discipleship -- an active, concrete, 24/7 life with Jesus.

- A Guide to Prayer
230,95 kr. To often, prayer seems only to be a dreary exercise that must be endured or a difficult skill that must be mastered. When we misunderstand its purpose and practice, we easily fall out of the habit of praying regularly. As a result, we miss one of the greatest opportunities to deepen our friendship with God. In Prayer: The Transforming Friendship, James Houston explores the transforming power of prayer, illustrating how prayer begins to change our lives and then how the way we live changes how we pray. Through clear and compelling examinations of the Scriptures, Dr. Houston shows the often-misunderstood spiritual realities of prayer. And through candid accounts of his own struggles to pray effectively, he will encourage you to engage boldly in the life-changing practice of intimate conversation with God. Dr. James M. Houston, a prolific author, editor, and Christian scholar, is the founding principal, former chancellor and emeritus professor of spiritual theology at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia. A native of Scotland whose parents were missionaries to Spain, he is recognized around the world as a leader in educating laypeople for effective ministry and in helping to restore spirituality to evangelicalism. His other book include The Mentored Life, The Heart's Desire, and Joyful Exiles.

183,95 kr. Dallas Willard, the author of the bestselling spiritual classic, The Divine Conspiracy, now fulfills his revolutionary vision of how the kingdom of God is made real on earth in this sequel, the last book he was working on before his recent deathIn 'The Divine Conspiracy', revered Christian philosopher and scholar Dallas Willard critiqued the church's obsession with 'sin management' and revolutionised our understanding of true Christian discipleship. Jesus is not a remote saviour, waiting to welcome us into heaven after we die, Willard argued. He is a dynamic living force, a leader and teacher to whom we apprentice ourselves to learn the sacred skills Godwants us to embrace, and to fulfil His son's vision when Christ declared that the 'kingdom of God has come.'In The Divine Conspiracy Continued, co-written with theologian Gary Black, Willard lays out the next stage in God's plan as this generation of disciples, including ordained and lay leaders, step into positions of authority across our culture and begin to transform the world from the inside out. To fulfil the Christian calling is not to remove oneself from the outsideworld and take shelter from its shortcomings, Willard reminds us, but to step into the world to lead and serve as agents of change.
