This book deals with testimonial literature and fiction emerging from the War of Liberation of 1971 in Bangladesh and Pakistan through the lenses of gender and genre. To recover a history of the war closer to the experiences of people, the author takes her cue from studies of war, the holocaust as well as the partition of 1947 as stories of witnesses, victims, perpetrators, and their progeny are examined through close reading.
