This novel is a fictional story based on both real and fictional events. Most all the characters in the story are real, but many of the names have been changed. The intent was to develop an autobiography of the dreams and outcomes we so earnestly wish to be true. It is basically a prayer from both the hope our lives were significant and that lives were changed along the way. Upon entering retirement, one soon discovers that reflections can consume our thoughts in the desperate hope we walked this short life making a difference. A lesson learned in writing this novel was the reality that behind many of the fictional events were memories that, upon expansion, allowed the author to complete what he hoped marked the significance of his life. Most significantly, it reminded him of how God has intervened in his life and that his whole life has been one of miracles. Primary characters in the story are Dorothy and Jim, the sister and brother-in-law of Shirley, the author's wife. It was in reality one of the greatest relational disappointments. Two sisters became so separated in their beliefs that it completely destroyed any sense of oneness between two who once loved each other deeply. The novel also brings out the destructive force of a false religion like Jehovah's Witnesses. It is anti-Biblical and destroyed the unity across families not to mention the intrusion into our family by attempting to steal the love and loyalty of our family from us. None of it in real life ended well. Both families are still suffering the effect of broken marriages, immorality and spiritual destruction with our children. The deepest pain is that many in these families will never see Heaven predicated on the indoctrination and acceptance of a faith that is so contrary to God and His Son. They deny the basis for which Jesus died and Who He is as Messiah. They hold no value to who Jesus claimed to be when He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except by me" (John 14:6). While the stories also reflect the many who crossed the paths of Cal and Shirley Meyer for almost 75 years of their lives, it ends with the victory of the rapture. The surprise ending, the greatest miracle of this story, is the hoped-for salvation of Dorothy and Jim, as dreamed. The author appreciates your walk with him as he took this Cruise of Miracles.
