98,95 kr. The book of Nahum in illustrated storybook form for 4â¿6 yearâ¿oldsGod is good, a strong refuge in times of trouble; He cares for those who trust in Him. But He will sweep away His enemies like a mighty flood and drive them into darkness. In the book of Nahum, God promises to punish the Assyrians, who had been oppressing Israel. Their capital, Nineveh, was full of murder and lies, so God destroys it. Â Nahumâ¿s name means comfort. Godâ¿s people can find comfort in his prophecy, which shows how God will defeat all our enemies. He even sent His Son, Jesus, to defeat sin, death and the devil. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Â Nahum is a minor prophet, but his book teaches major lessons. Brian Wright and John Brown show how we can learn about the power and mercy of God in this illustrated rendering of the prophecy of Nahum for 4â¿6 yearâ¿olds.

This Jonah picture book clearly explains this minor prophet for 4â¿6 yearâ¿olds God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and tell the people there to stop doing bad things and turn back to God, but Jonah ran away. He took a boat in the opposite direction, so God sent a big storm and Jonah ended up in the belly of a big fish.  When Jonah told the Ninevites Godâ¿s message, they turned away from their evil ways, but instead of rejoicing, Jonah was angry.   This minor prophet has major lessons for readers today. Brian Wright and John Brown show us how Jonah points to Jesus, and teaches us about compassion and obedience. Â

98,95 kr. This attractively illustrated retelling of the book of Joel will teach young readers about the major lessons found in this minor prophet An army of locusts has eaten all the crops in Israel, and a drought has dried up their streams - what are they going to do? God had warned Israel long ago that this would happen if they did not listen to Him. Joel cried out to God, and God told him about "the day of the Lord", when God will come with his angelic army to set things right. He will judge the wicked but forgive everyone who is truly sorry and turns to Him. This minor prophet offers major lessons, teaching readers about repentance and renewal, two aspects of the Christian life as essential today as when Joel first wrote.

- A Year's Journey Through the New Testament
153,95 kr. Inspiring quotes and inspirational stories will always be popular, but they rarely change lives. After reading the quote, hearing the story, and experiencing some feelings, we often go about our business as usual. What we need is a spiritual resource that helps us focus on heart issues, life change, and the rhythm of the Christian life. This year-long devotional takes 365 questions asked in the New Testament, and shows you how to change your focus, reorder your affections, and reprioritize your loves. It will inspire you to action, not just sweet reflections. It will compel you to love God and others more fervently and selflessly, while weaning your heart off the lies and lures of this world.

- A Window into Early Christian Reading Practices
413,95 kr. Much of the contemporary discussion of the Jesus tradition has focused on aspects of oral performance, storytelling, and social memory, on the premise that the practice of communal reading of written texts was a phenomenon documented no earlier than the second century CE. Brian J. Wright overturns that premise by examining evidence that demonstrates communal reading events in the first century. Wright disproves the simplistic notion that only a small segment of society in certain urban areas could have been involved in such communal reading events during the first century; rather, communal reading permeated a complex, multifaceted cultural field in which early Christians, Philo, and many others participated. His study thus pushes the academic conversation back by at least a century and raises important new questions regarding the formation of the Jesus tradition, the contours of book culture in early Christianity, and factors shaping the transmission of the text of the New Testament. These fresh insights have the potential to inform historical reconstructions of the nature of the earliest churches as well as the story of canon formation and textual transmission.
