115,95 kr. The evolution of the United States has its roots in several traditions, ideas and precursor institutions. The immediate political foundation that was used was that of the British monarchy. The knowledge and the advice from history were also taken into account-especially in all of the existing governments of Western and Eastern Europe. The history of the United States is a way of viewing the events of America's beginning, and to explain the context in which these events occurred.

After 228 years of the presidency, from 1789 when George Washington assumed the office under the Constitution, and continuing until the latest term by Barack Obama ended in 2017, the country has experienced a great many triumphs, defeats, calamities and disasters. It has prevailed in most of the wars that it has fought, and has been directed in times of great peril by leaders who rose to the occasion. Some Presidents were ineffective, while some maintained the status quo, and still others showed great leadership-especially in times that were critical for the United States. Abraham Lincoln stands out among all 44 Constitutional Presidents because he kept the country together when it could have easily split apart into 2 separate nations. George Washington is also prominent in that he ensured that the country survive in its initial stages. Franklin Roosevelt was definitely a leader in defeating the global threats from Germany, Italy and Japan during World War II. Thomas Jefferson can be commended for expanding the land area with the Louisiana Purchase. And, Theodore Roosevelt can be cited for making the United States into a world power. These 5 Presidents are notable in terms of their actions at the time of their presidencies.

Its history dates back to the Native Americans who first occupied this area and extends to the modern day era of technology and business. It has the reputation of being very progressive and is touted as one of the leading bellwether states in the nation. Although there are countless pieces of documented history, no book has been written to encompass the rich and full history of its past-as well as to incorporate its modern day influence on the country. Its greatest asset is the natural beauty contained within its borders.

- 1774-2016
222,95 kr. The history of the United States began with the meeting of the First Continental Congress in September 1774. The Revolutionary War ensued in which the United States won its freedom from England. England tried to seize its former colonies again, but the War of 1812 ended in a stalemate. The Louisiana Purchase added a significant amount of land to the United States. The United States launched a War against Mexico that further enlarged its territory with the addition of areas in the Southwest. However, a Civil War detracted from further progress in acquiring new territories. The United States became involved in World War I in its first global conflict. It then underwent a Great Depression, which the entrance into World War II made it regain its economic prosperity. Great strides were made in technology, including manned trips to the moon. Civil rights issues also became prominent with many significant events that resulted in new laws against discrimination. A major war was also fought in the gulf area to protect the oil interests of the world. The 21st century has been mainly one of dealing with terrorism and a Great Recession. Two major wars have depleted the resources of the country and have contributed towards the ever-escalating national debt, which now stands at 19.5 trillion dollars. In the 243 years of its existence since 1774, the United States has experienced the assassination of 4 Presidents, and the deaths of 4 other Presidents in office. In spite of this, the country has always found someone else to lead the way towards a brighter future. It has also withstood many events that have reverberated throughout the world, including the 9/11 terrorist acts by Al-Qaeda on American soil.

83,95 kr. Perhaps the greatest challenge that can befall a nation is a conflict that results in a civil war. The United States, after barely being in existence as a constitutional government for only 72 years, experienced such an event in 1861. The reasons for the division between the North and the South centered on the slavery question and its economic effects, the tariffs-which mostly affected the South-and the unresolved issue of states' rights. The American Civil War remains as the most violent time in the history of the United States. More than 620,000 men lost their lives in the war. The war left a long-lasting resentment by the South against the North. The aftermath also created new problems, especially with regard to Reconstruction efforts.
