- A Story of Hope and Help for a Generation at Peril
173,95 kr. "The ministries of Bill Wilson's Metro Church and its Sidewalk Sunday Schools are a fascinating story of God's healing hand in a desperately needy world. The good news is that these ministries are being copied with great success in city after city across America..."-John AshcroftU.S. Attorney General (2001-2005)For me, Metro Ministries always goes back to New York City. I'd like to tell you that when I first went there, I had it all figured out: A five-year plan, a ten-year plan, a strategy for success, and a budget. But I had none of those. In fact, I had no idea how to make the whole thing work-I just knew I had to do something to rescue broken and hurting children. I spent years listening to so-called experts say that what was on my heart couldn't be done-especially in New York City. But I knew that wasn't true. I refused to accept that ministry to inner city kids was impossible anywhere-especially in New York City.Whose Child Is This? is the story of a city filled with children who now have hope and a future because I refused to believe that anything was impossible with God... even in New York City.-Bill Wilson

One-eyed kings in the land of the blind, although seemingly unqualified and incapable, see something they could never realize with their natural vision."You see," says Bill Wilson, "I believe my story continually lets people know that it's still about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. That's the definition of a one-eyed king. They are people who turn terrible tragedies and pain into amazingly productive lives that benefit many others. They are not trained. They are not qualified. They have their own sets of issues. Despite their shortcomings, the one-eyed kings are able to see just a little more than those around them. Then they do something about it." What is your story? Are you waiting to be qualified? To get it right? To be perfect? Are you waiting for something to happen that is worth telling? You already have a story! No one is qualified. Nobody is right all the time. Not one of us has reached perfection. It's your journey with and to God that will bless and encourage those in your path. Don't wait to get to your destination before telling others. God needs you now in all your imperfect glory...someone is waiting to hear.

Their prominence was mad possible by their commitment to a higher purpose that was motivated by a higher law- the law of love.

Bill Wilson studied in a number of fields including civil engineering, theology, philosophy, organisation theory, behavioural science and education. He has practiced professionally as a civil engineer; an ordained clergyman; a lecturer in adult higher education; and finally as a Principal of a Further and Higher Education College. Bill believes that all human beings behave and find fulfilment consistent with their inner 'world-view', that is, what we believe about the meaning and purpose of life and any 'god' who oversees it all. His early 'world-view' was that of classical Protestantism. But as his education developed and he engaged with the wider world he became unhappy with the expressions of faith passed down in the creedal formulations of the Church in favour of the bottom-up enquiry of ordinary people. For Bill, meaningful religion must address the issues on the minds of the population today, people who live in a rapidly changing world, rather than those living in the fixed static world of yesterday.
