To achieve a successful prosthesis it is important to achieve harmony between the maxillomandibular relationship and anatomy of patient. This relationship is not simple opening or closing, but a complex relationship which exists in 3 dimensions. Variations may occur in any direction ¿ vertical, anteroposterior, or mediolateral. Thus, it is essential to record this relationship with the least possible error to obtain a successful prosthesis. However when relating the maxillary and mandibular dental casts, the ultimate accuracy depends on accuracy and dimensional stability of the material and the technique used to record the maxillomandibular relationship. To properly evaluate a patient's occlusion and to build up an artificial dynamic occlusal scheme, it is mandatory that the diagnostic casts and the final casts are placed in an articulator in approximately the same relationship to the temporomandibular joint as it exists in the patient. The ideal material-technique combination for making interocclusal records would allow the placement of indirectly fabricated prostheses in the patient's mouth with no occlusal adjustment and hence play a major role in the successful rehabilitation.

The CPA is the most conservative treatment option and offers excellent patient acceptance. Its versatility in clinical applications makes it one of the successful designs for RPD. It does not limit the patient¿s choice to have an implant-supported prosthesis, whenever they are psychologically and financially prepared.

Esthetic dental treatment involves artistic and subjective components design to create the illusion of beauty. Smile is a person¿s greatest beauty asset. Residual ridge resorption (RRR) is a term that is used to describe the changes which affect the alveolar ridge following tooth extractions, and which continue even after healing of the extraction socket. The most significant feature of this healing process is that the residual bony architecture of the maxilla and mandible undergoes a life-long catabolic remodelling. The rate of reduction in size of the residual ridge is maximum in the first three months and then gradually tapers off. However, bone resorption activity continues throughout life at a slower rate, resulting in loss of varying amount of jaw structure, ultimately leaving the patient a ¿dental cripple¿. Rehabilitation of a totally edentulous patient using a conventional complete removable denture is a routine clinical procedure, yet at times it can be a difficult and challenging process. All these patients have been through a period of edentulousness that varies from weeks to months or even years and the promise of having ¿teeth¿ again often makes their expectations unrealistically high.

The dentogenic concept is an esthetic philosophy. Its purpose is to present knowledge whereby the prosthodontist may replace the lost dentition in such a manner as to effect an appearance which is complimentary to the sex, personality, and age of the patient. Other interests have seemingly occupied the attention of the profession, to the unfortunate exclusion of the esthetic or cosmetic phase. The result of this disinterest has been an impersonal, characterless, or mechanical arrangement of teeth. The dentogenic concept has been explained and demonstrated for the benefit of the dentist and the dental laboratory technician. The technician has been enlightened so that he can lend a helping hand to the dentist when needed. Both physical aids and knowledge have been placed in the hands of the dentist so that he may be able to guide the patient to ¿look with the eye, and see with the mind,¿ and thus believe in his dentist's ability and understand his reasoning. Only in this manner can there be a welcome acceptance of the inspired efforts of the dentist, and the entire profession can be led to nobler heights in its service to mankind.
