641,95 kr. This book presents the OntoTag annotation model, which is suitable for both Linguistics and the Semantic Web. OntoTag was conceived when (1) no real standard for linguistic annotation had been released yet, (2) the topic ¿What is an ontology?¿ was still under discussion (e.g. AAAI¿2002 workshops), (3) no linguistic ontology had been developed yet, (4) the first W3C recommendations about RDF and OWL were under development, and (5) the Semantic Web was, hence, quite a utopia. However, already by that time, this annotation model used all these emergent technologies to [A] merge and link annotations, and also [B] make linguistic tools and resources interoperate. These two goals are achieved in the model by means of its set of linguistic ontologies, which are described in this book as well. OntoTag provides also a methodology and a set of best practices for the annotation of texts, conforming to the guidelines, recommendations and standards published hitherto for annotation in Linguistics and in the Semantic Web. This book presents also OntoTagger, the application that was implemented in order to evaluate the OntoTag model, together with the results obtained from this evaluation.

613,95 kr. Making diverse data in linguistics and the language sciences open, distributed, and accessible: perspectives from language/language acquistiion researchers and technical LOD (linked open data) researchers. This volume examines the challenges inherent in making diverse data in linguistics and the language sciences open, distributed, integrated, and accessible, thus fostering wide data sharing and collaboration. It is unique in integrating the perspectives of language researchers and technical LOD (linked open data) researchers. Reporting on both active research needs in the field of language acquisition and technical advances in the development of data interoperability, the book demonstrates the advantages of an international infrastructure for scholarship in the field of language sciences. With contributions by researchers who produce complex data content and scholars involved in both the technology and the conceptual foundations of LLOD (linguistics linked open data), the book focuses on the area of language acquisition because it involves complex and diverse data sets, cross-linguistic analyses, and urgent collaborative research. The contributors discuss a variety of research methods, resources, and infrastructures.ContributorsIsabelle Barrière, Nan Bernstein Ratner, Steven Bird, Maria Blume, Ted Caldwell, Christian Chiarcos, Cristina Dye, Suzanne Flynn, Claire Foley, Nancy Ide, Carissa Kang, D. 408,95 kr. This volume offers a comprehensive, up-to-date, empirical and methodological view over the new scenarios and environments for language teaching and learning recently emerged (e.g. blended learning, e-learning, ubiquitous learning, social learning, autonomous learning or lifelong learning), and also over some of the new approaches to language teaching and/or research that can support them (usually by applying ICT), such as Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), or Language Massive Open Online Courses (LMOOCs). A must-read for those undertaking language teaching for the first time or willing to try new perspectives and methods in their courses.
