- As Written by the President of the Simla Eclectic Theosophical Society
88,95 kr. Perhaps C. W. Leadbeater summarized this work better than anyone: "In 1881, Mr. Sinnett startled the literary circles of London by the publication of The Occult World. Here was a book by a man whose position vouched for him - a book short, definite, and to the point. True, it told an astounding story - a story to the ordinary man of the world all but incredible, though strangely attractive; but it told it in the most straightforward and transparently truthful manner, so that to many of us - in spite of its overwhelming novelty - it carried conviction upon its very face. It is no exaggeration to say that thousands of souls were stirred into instant and delighted recognition of a knowledge which had been theirs long ago in other bodies and under other skies."

525,95 kr. Ukrainian-born Madame Helena Blavatsky (1831-1891) was a co-founder of the theosophy movement in the United States, which she later extended to Europe and India, though her later years were dogged by ill health and controversy. In this book, published in 1886, A. P. Sinnett (1840-1921), a fellow theosophist and writer, sets out a defence of Blavatsky, writing that 'I have reason to believe that the attempt will respond to the wishes of a great many people ... who regard the current aspersion on Mme. Blavatsky's character with profound indignation'. He outlines the many extraordinary events in her life, covering her childhood in Russia and claims to an early connection with the supernatural world, her brief unhappy marriage and decade of extensive global travels, her time of study in India, and the criticism she received about some of her 'phenomena' and practices.
