1.688,95 - 1.700,95 kr. This book includes contributions about mathematics, physics, philosophy of science, economics and finance and resulted from the Summer School "e;Complexity and Emergence: Ideas, Methods, with a Special Attention to Economics and Finance"e; held in Lake Como School of Advanced Studies, on 22-27 July 2018.The aim of the book is to provide useful instruments from the theory of complex systems, both on the theoretical level and the methodological ones, profiting from knowledge and insights from leading experts of different communities. It moves from the volume editors' conviction that to achieve progress in understanding socio-economical as well as ecological problems of our complex word such preparation is needed, together with a critical reconsideration of our basic scientific and economical approach. The potential readers are primarily master and doctorate students of mathematics, information sciences, theoretical physics and economics, as well as research workers in those areas, who want to enlarge their spectrum of knowledge towards the area of complexity and emergence. Since ideas and methods of the theory of complex systems also apply to other areas (from engineering and architecture to biology and medicine, e.g.), students and research workers from those areas will also profit from this book.

1.395,95 - 1.994,95 kr. This book collects together original research and survey articles highlighting the fertile interdisciplinary applications of convex lattice polytopes in modern mathematics. Covering a diverse range of topics, including algebraic geometry, mirror symmetry, symplectic geometry, discrete geometry, and algebraic combinatorics, the common theme is the study of lattice polytopes. These fascinating combinatorial objects are a cornerstone of toric geometry and continue to find rich and unforeseen applications throughout mathematics. The workshop Interactions with Lattice Polytopes assembled many top researchers at the Otto-von-Guericke-Universitat Magdeburg in 2017 to discuss the role of lattice polytopes in their work, and many of their presented results are collected in this book. Intended to be accessible, these articles are suitable for researchers and graduate students interested in learning about some of the wide-ranging interactions of lattice polytopes in pure mathematics.

The volume includes a collection of peer-reviewed contributions from among those presented at the FNE, the main conference organized every two years by the Mexican Statistical Society (AME), and the 2020 AME Virtual Meeting. Statistical research in Latin America is prolific and research networks span both within and outside the region. As much of the work is typically carried out and published in Spanish, a large portion of the interested public is denied access to interesting findings, and the goal of this volume is therefore to provide access to selected works from Mexican collaborators and their international research networks to a wider audience. It may be especially attractive to academics interested in the latest methodological advances, while professionals from other disciplines may also find value in these new tools for data analysis. In 2021, the conference broadly focused on the interdisciplinary aspects of Statistics.

2.413,95 - 2.428,95 kr. This volume presents modern trends in the area of symmetries and their applications based on contributions to the Workshop "Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics" held in Sofia, Bulgaria (on-line) in June 2021.Traditionally, Lie theory is a tool to build mathematical models for physical systems. Recently, the trend is towards geometrization of the mathematical description of physical systems and objects. A geometric approach to a system yields in general some notion of symmetry which is very helpful in understanding its structure. Geometrization and symmetries are meant in their widest sense, i.e., representation theory, algebraic geometry, number theory, infinite-dimensional Lie algebras and groups, superalgebras and supergroups, groups and quantum groups, noncommutative geometry, symmetries of linear and nonlinear partial differential operators, special functions, and others. Furthermore, the necessary tools from functional analysis are included. This is a big interdisciplinary and interrelated field. The topics covered in this Volume are the most modern trends in the field of the Workshop: Representation Theory, Symmetries in String Theories, Symmetries in Gravity Theories, Supergravity, Conformal Field Theory, Integrable Systems, Quantum Computing and Deep Learning, Entanglement, Applications to Quantum Theory, Exceptional quantum algebra for the standard model of particle physics, Gauge Theories and Applications, Structures on Lie Groups and Lie Algebras. This book is suitable for a broad audience of mathematicians, mathematical physicists, and theoretical physicists, including researchers and graduate students interested in Lie Theory.

1.486,95 kr. Sergio Albeverio gave important contributions to many fields ranging from Physics to Mathematics, while creating new research areas from their interplay. Some of them are presented in this Volume that grew out of the Random Transformations and Invariance in Stochastic Dynamics Workshop held in Verona in 2019. To understand the theory of thermo- and fluid-dynamics, statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics and quantum field theory, Albeverio and his collaborators developed stochastic theories having strong interplays with operator theory and functional analysis. His contribution to the theory of (non Gaussian)-SPDEs, the related theory of (pseudo-)differential operators, and ergodic theory had several impacts to solve problems related, among other topics, to thermo- and fluid dynamics. His scientific works in the theory of interacting particles and its extension to configuration spaces lead, e.g., to the solution of open problems in statistical mechanics and quantum fieldtheory. Together with Raphael Hoegh Krohn he introduced the theory of infinite dimensional Dirichlet forms, which nowadays is used in many different contexts, and new methods in the theory of Feynman path integration. He did not fear to further develop different methods in Mathematics, like, e.g., the theory of non-standard analysis and p-adic numbers.

1.669,95 kr. This book collects the proceedings of a series of conferences dedicated to birational geometry of Fano varieties held in Moscow, Shanghai and PohangThe conferences were focused on the following two related problems:¿ existence of Kähler¿Einstein metrics on Fano varieties¿ degenerations of Fano varietieson which two famous conjectures were recently proved. The first is the famous Borisov¿Alexeev¿Borisov Conjecture on the boundedness of Fano varieties, proved by Caucher Birkar (for which he was awarded the Fields medal in 2018), and the second one is the (arguably even more famous) Tian¿YaüDonaldson Conjecture on the existence of Kähler¿Einstein metrics on (smooth) Fano varieties and K-stability, which was proved by Xiuxiong Chen, Sir Simon Donaldson and Song Sun. The solutions for these longstanding conjectures have opened new directions in birational and Kähler geometries. These research directions generated new interesting mathematical problems, attracting the attention of mathematicians worldwide. These conferences brought together top researchers in both fields (birational geometry and complex geometry) to solve some of these problems and understand the relations between them. The result of this activity is collected in this book, which contains contributions by sixty nine mathematicians, who contributed forty three research and survey papers to this volume. Many of them were participants of the Moscow¿Shanghai¿Pohang conferences, while the others helped to expand the research breadth of the volume¿the diversity of their contributions reflects the vitality of modern Algebraic Geometry.
