763,95 kr. This book focuses on the functional analysis of the lithic industries of Neanderthal caves of Grotta Breuil in Italy and La Combette in France. Through use-wear analysis of the stone artefacts, the conclusions were reached on the modalities of subsistence in the course of the Middle Palaeolithic and on behaviour and mental planning capacity of the Neanderthals.

The work is focused on the Chalcolithic (3000-1900 cal BC) which remains poorlyunderstood in the area of the Arlanzón river valley because of its problematic archaeological record. The large amount of data collected over the last 30 years has led to new theoretical approach and research methodologies to explore the archaeological record. The recent finds have also generated discussion in historical terms of the material evidence.

Through an exhaustive artistic analysis of the vessel and all its characteristics, the author attempts to prove that the Aryballos can serve as a measure of the period between the 8th and 6th centuries BC. Corinth during this period was a dominant centre of ceramic production, more so than other important centres such as Crete orCyprus.

643,95 kr. This is the second of a projected series of five important volumes presenting the results of excavations (1963-4) carried out at the Nubian site of Meinarti (near the Second Nile Cataract, about 10km to the south of modern-day Wadi Halfa). Occupation of the site covers some 18 levels, ranging from perhaps 200 AD to the early Post-Christian periods, or approximately 1600 AD. This second volume (following on from the analysis of the two first Phases - the Meroitic and Ballaña) carries the story forward through the Early and Classic Christian periods, designated as Phases 3 and 4. The work includes a summary in Arabic, a section containing 40 pages of b/w photographs, and material online (the back-cover pocket-inserts with seven separate plans/lay-outs). A comprehensive register of finds from Phases 3 and 4 is presented as an Appendix.

905,95 kr. Although oral narrations are the way in which history has survived in Mexican indigenous contexts, they have been long disregarded as a valid source of information for archaeological research. The Materiality of Remembering argues that orality as a tool for research does not only provide clues for exploring indigenous uses of space, but that these narrations become central when investigating the way materiality changes through the act of remembrance. It is then through oral histories that materiality becomes fluid-moves and changes-through the constant process of remembrance. Then, by exploring orality in Mixtla de Altamirano in the Zongolica Mountain Range, Flores-Muñoz provides a corpus of data that helps us explore the interwoven relationship established between people (in this case the Nahuas in Mixtla de Altamirano) and their material world in the process of accounting history.

1.177,95 kr. The research in this book is the result of work begun in the summer of 2003 when the author became involved with the research team investigating the harbour area of Classe, in a joint project of the Department of History, Culture, Civilisation (then Department of Archaeology), the Superintendence of Archaeological Heritage of Emilia Romagna with the Fondazione RavennAntica. The author carried out the cleaning and conservation of metal objects from the excavation, particularly the coins. Part of this work was realised in a postgraduate dissertation that discussed the evidence of the 2002-2003 excavation campaigns in the harbour area of Classe. The archaeological research of the harbour carried out between 2001 and 2005 brought to light a total of 2564 coins, most of which are illegible and in alloys of copper, documenting a chronological range between the 2nd century BC and the 8th century AD. The investigation of the Basilica of San Severo started in the summer of 2006 and is still ongoing (2014), however, the coins included in this work are those retrieved between 2006 and 2010 only. In this case, the excavations brought to light a total of 224 coins, in alloys of silver, copper and billon, with a large variety of emissions that witness the settlement of the site between the 1st century BC and the 14th century AD, with a few, sporadic modern and contemporary finds of the 20th century. The archaeological contexts studied represent a focal point for the reconstruction of the history of the territory and cover a wide chronological span that is useful for defining the characteristics of the settlement (housing, productive areas etc.) and its evolution.

1.619,95 kr. "Horace's Villa" is the name given to the site of a Roman country house near the hill town of 'Licenza' (Roma), which is located approximately 30 miles from the centre of Rome. The site remains in quotation marks as, although the identification is traditional and possible, it is by no means certain. The "Horace's Villa" Project, 1997-2003 was initiated with the main goal of adding to the knowledge of the site in terms of time and space. There were two main areas to be investigated, which could be called the 'meta-archaeological' and the 'archaeological'. The former entailed looking afresh at earlier investigations, while the latter offered opportunities to look at new discoveries, such as the baths, entrance, and the rural hinterland. This volume is part of a two volume set: ISBN 9781407300023 (Volume I); ISBN 9781407300030 (Volume II); ISBN 9781407300016 (Volume set)."Horace's Villa" is the name given to the site of a Roman country house near the hill town of 'Licenza' (Roma), which is located approximately 30 miles from the centre of Rome. - Etnoarqueologia, etnohistoria y folklore
1.838,95 kr.
