Nykredit Fonds Arkitekturpris er Skandinaviens største arkitekturpris. Hvert år uddeles den, sammen med en bæredygtighedspris og en motivationspris, til en arkitekt eller tegnestue, hvis arbejde bidrager væsentligt til at højne kvaliteten i vores byggede omgivelser. Priserne er på 1 million kroner. Bogen Positioner i ny dansk arkitektur præsenterer de seneste 13 års prismodtagere og tegner et unikt, opdateret portræt af den allernyeste arkitektur, som den former sig netop nu. De 13 prisvindende tegnestuer er interviewet af skribent og redaktør Michael Juul Holm i et levende og lettilgængeligt sprog. Bogen rummer desuden et nyt essay af forlagsdirektør på Arkitektens Forlag Kristoffer Lindhardt Weiss. Bogen er rigt illustreret med mere end 130 fotografier af ny arkitektur fra Danmarks vigtigste tegnestuer, såsom BIG, COBE, SLA og Dorte Mandrup. Derudover præsenterer den også 2019’s spritnye prismodtagere.

Nu kommer de næste to bind i en bogserie om ny dansk arkitektur. Gennem 10 bind vil serien give et vitalt signalement af den nyeste danske arkitektur. Hvert bind udfolder et enkelt bygningsværk og portrætterer derigennem tegnestuen bag. De 10 bygninger repræsenterer desuden 10 aktuelle temaer i tidens arkitekturdebat. Gennem et essay og et dybdegående interview med arkitekten, kommer man helt tæt på. Samtaleformatet vil sikre en uformel beskrivelse, mens essayet vil supplere med baggrundsviden.”LEGO House er nok den bygning i hele vores karriere, hvor der er den største sammenhæng mellem form og indhold,” siger stjernearkitekten Bjarke Ingels. Den opsigtsvækkende LEGO House bygning midt i Billund er bygget op af 21 store klodser omkring et åbent torv i midten. Det skal både fungere som det sted, hvor ’LEGO-pilgrimme’ fra hele verden kan mødes, og som et sted, hvor indbyggerne i Billund frit kan skrå igennem eller opholde sig i.Over torvet er der så 12 forskellige gallerier, der viser forskellige vinkler på LEGOs filosofi om ’læring gennem leg’.

I maj 1983 valgte den socialistiske præsident Mitterrand en i Frankrig ukendt dansk arkitekt ved navn Johan Otto von Spreckelsen som vinder af konkurrencen om La Défense. Han havde tegnet en gigantisk åben kube, en moderne triumfbue, der skulle ligge for enden af Paris’ historiske vestakse. Franskmændene var begejstret for hans projekt, der passede perfekt til fransk mentalitet. Journalister spurgte, hvad han ellers havde bygget: ”Fire kirker og mit eget hus”, svarede han med et smil. De troede, han lavede sjov. Men det var sandt.Præsident Mitterrand fulgte ivrigt med i udviklingen af Spreckelsens planer. Han skrev senere om sit forhold til danskeren: ”Jeg nærede beundring for ham og følte, vi havde et venskab”. I 1986 mistede Mitterrand sit parlamentariske flertal, og for at genere ham lagde den nye, borgerlige regering hindringer i vejen for Kuben. Det orkede Spreckelsen ikke. I sommeren 1986 forlod han byggeriet. I marts 1987 døde han af kræft. Han fik aldrig set den færdigbyggede bygning, der under navnet ”La Grande Arche” anses for et mesterværk i moderne arkitektur. Alligevel er ”Spreck”, som hans kolleger og studerende kaldte ham, næsten glemt i dag.Dan Tschernia har skrevet den første bog om hans liv og værk. Den er baseret på interviews med nogle af Spreckelsens familiemedlemmer, danske og franske kolleger og fraklip fra DR-udsendelsen Kun for Mennesker, som Tschernia tilrettelagde i 1989, da Kuben blev indviet. Den afslører blandt andet baggrunden for dramaet i Paris og fortæller om, hvordan byggeriets rådgivende ingeniør efter arkitektens død systematisk forsøgte at tage æren for den unikke arkitektoniske form. Formålet er at vække mindet om den dygtige danske arkitekt til live og fortælle om, hvordan hans største triumf endte som en tragedie.

Vintage Tattoo Flash is a one-of-a-kind visual exploration of the history and evolution of tattooing in America. Electric tattooing as we know it today was invented in New York City at the turn of the 19th century. In the first days of American tattooing, tattoos were primarily worn by sailors and soldiers, outlaws and outsiders. The visual language of what came to be known as "traditional tattooing" was developed in those early days on the Bowery and catered to the interests of the clientele. Common imagery that soon became canon included sailing ships, women, hearts, roses, daggers, eagles, dragons, wolves, panthers, skulls, crosses, and popular cartoon characters of the era. The first tattooists also figured out that using bold outlines, complimented by solid color and smooth shading, was the proper technique for creating art on a body that would stand the test of time.
