A Study in Scarlet is a detective mystery novel written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, introducing his new characters, "consulting detective" Sherlock Holmes and his friend and chronicler, Dr. John Watson, who later became two of the most famous characters in literature. Conan Doyle wrote the story in 1886, and it was published the following year. The book's title derives from a speech given by Holmes to Doctor Watson on the nature of his work, in which he describes the story's murder investigation as his "study in scarlet": "There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it."

Expose describes in some detail links to the '63 JFK assassination & this town & subsequent events including John Lennon's murder, the election of Bill Clinton.1988 semi satirical book I wrote. In 1976 I had met a graduate, so called, of the local Church of Scientology named Martin H. who's parents lived across the street from the very old state mental asylum. This was the suburb of Eastwood which was a name change from Parkside 60s, made due to political considerations. Martin was a successful heroin dealer, then aged 16 or 17, with clients all over Adelaide. I was not interested in becoming one of them. His father, Gordon was a TV antenna installation man working Rank Arena. Strangely enough in 1973 Yoko Ono had recorded a song called Marbury which happened to be the name of the very small street opposite Martin's home that went into the very old state asylum. It was also the name of a private school in the hills set up to cater for children with serious learning difficulties. Martin's mother Jean ran a raw foods veggie shop in the city named Cranks. Both parents were very accepting that Martin was dealing drugs and knew so many people. Your author had graduated with a university degree in 1975, which some believe is a "degree away from Christ" but such people are mainly occultists or the old school variety. One of the only reasons I'd enrolled in a university course was because a new Socialist government had come to power and all courses were free; the only cost burden was the Student Union. Of course the university had no facilities for the large influx of new students. The only food obtainable on campus was boiled rice!Films were shown every Friday afternoon, such as The Godfather, very commercial and to the point as a new Premier named Don had also come into office that same year. One course I found interesting was American Literature, which enabled me to read poetry and novels from 100 and more years ago.On the campus the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana laws had hundreds of posters advertising themselves as NORMAL but there were none in the nearby city; it was believed that as no fees were payable students would have extra cash to spend on the Holy Herb. Thus in 1972 my tutor Jack Barbalet, gave me a brown paper bag of home grown weed and suggested I smoke it and write an essay about the experience! Three weeks later I handed in my work, which said I was not impressed by the stuff but could understand why others might use it as it was partially relaxing and stimulated the appetite.By second year I'd met some new people, such as Sandy Ellis and Gabriel Kelly and Rosie Page. Sandy's namesake was used many years later as Socialist Senator Kate Ellis. It would seem that while the university courses were all "free" some reciprocal arrangement was in place so that the "party" could benefit from your time. The politics course for example had hundreds of enrollments, where as my American lit course had less than 7! I created and edited a poetry magazine named, Dark Areas, meaning erogenous zones. We had a couple hundred copies mimeographed every edition, which was at best once in six months, 10 - 20 pages in length .By 1975 and graduation, I had had enough of the academic life and postponed Post Graduate research saying I'd do it when I was feeling confident I'd located something worth writing about. That was accepted. I was introduced to the Maharishi T.M. movement by an alcoholic who lived on Cross Road after he claimed that while I was visiting Carol, his wine had turned to water. He swore it had happened and thought it meant that I was "stressed up" and so gave me the address for the local T.M. place. They were situated 2 streets from where I'd lived with Carol when on Christmas Day a cyclone they named Tracy wiped an entire city off the map named Darwin. When I mentioned it to the teacher he said it was "natural law."

This story is so dynamic that it is only conceivable because it is true!Allow me to introduce you to a multi-faceted story based on: International Espionage, Asian Organized Crime, and Human Suffering: JUST IMAGINE: the modern version of smoke-filled Chinese Opium Dens; pirate-like ship's captain and crew; spies and counter-spies; Chinatown massage parlors and whorehouses; undercover agents and detectives; heroic rescuers at the shipwreck and on the high-seas, Coast Guard, police harbor units, and fire boats; dramatic court scenes and INS detention facilities - some make and have babies on board Golden Venture. It's there, it is all there and it is a true story. It is anticipated that the SCREENWRITER will utilize the time-lines, people, places, and events provided herein, and those developed in future collaboration with the authors, to develop an action-movie based on the final ill-fated voyage of M/V GOLDEN VENTURE, the thread of international criminals from China to the US and the ports-of-call in-between who are responsible for the smuggling of spies and illegal immigrants from China to the USA.

  • - The Struggle to Survive a Loved One's Murder
    af Jory Ames
    173,95 kr.

Allison Martin was murdered in 1978, at the age of nineteen. For many years, the police and books attributed her death-falsely-to Henry Lee Lucas, who at one time claimed to have killed over 600 people. It was later found that his confessions were used to close numerous unsolved murders, and it is probable that he killed three, not hundreds. This book details Jory Ames, Allison's best friend growing up in Alaska, and her search for answers to what happened to Allison, as well as understanding the effects the murder of Allison had on her own relationships and outlook and spirit. Jory researched serial killers, interviewed police, and talked with counselors as she sought answers. Through writing, she tried to find a way to heal. The text includes a combination of flashbacks, narratives, research, dialogues and experiences as the author tries to understand what happened to Allison, and to herself.

  • - Why Women Kill
    af Alexa Keating
    148,95 kr.

Why do women, the nurturers who typically encourage and support their loved ones suddenly become killers? For some, it is not sudden; it is the last stop before their own murder. For many, the reasons lie squarely within the confines of greed, jealously and rage. The true stories featured in 'When Walls Talk' begins at the gates of the Ohio Reformatory for Women where Lauren, an Investigative Journalist, was assigned to complete a newspaper series titled, 'Why Women Kill.' It provides up close and personal details about the thoughts and actions behind 5 different murders, as related by the women who committed them. There is both horror and gore and details that can only be repulsive, and there is the human side of people who appear to have made inhumane choices. There is a trail of broken dreams and little hope in the lives of the people who arrive at the prison gates. Indeed, it is a broken road that leads to those towering fences with rolls of barbed wire and the slamming of those gates.

During the 1970s a group of Protestant paramilitaries embarked on a spree of indiscriminate murder which left thirty Northern Irish Catholics dead. Their leader was Lenny Murphy, a fanatical Unionist whose Catholic-sounding surname led to his persecution as a child for which he took revenge on all Catholics. Not for the squeamish, The Shankill Butchers is a horrifyingly detailed account of one of the most brutal series of murders in British legal history--a phenomenon whose real nature has been obscured by the political and violent context from which it sprang.

It was the firing heard round the world. With one impulsive move, on the advice of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, Donald Trump fired James Comey on May 9, 2017. It would change the course of the Trump presidency and, with it, alter the course of world history in ways both large and small. It was that firing that led to the creation of the position of Special Counsel, filled by former FBI director Robert Mueller. The product of Mueller's year and a half of investigation may or may not be made public, but, in a critical way, it already is. As Chad Day and Eric Tucker of The Associated Press have written, "Mueller has spoken loudly, if indirectly, in court - indictment by indictment, guilty plea by guilty plea. In doing so, he tracked an elaborate Russian operation that injected chaos into a U.S. presidential election and tried to help Trump win the White House. He followed a GOP campaign that embraced the Kremlin's help and championed stolen material to hurt a political foe. And ultimately, he revealed layers of lies, deception, self-enrichment and hubris that followed. Woven through thousands of court papers, the special counsel has made his public report. This is what it says."The filings have an almost novelistic quality. "Mueller's legal filings, which include indictments and sentencing memorandums, have created an almost novelistic narrative, featuring rich portraits of the political and personal motivations of a large cast of characters," observed Jeffrey Toobin, The New Yorker's legal affairs correspondent.

Would you do something to that person if you were to see them? Or would you just walk away as if nothing ever happened?Oftentimes, people tend to want revenge on the person that killed their loved one because they feel as if that is the only way justice will be served, but "Vengeance is mine, said the Lord."I have lost one too many family members and friends in my life to gun violence. My brother was my best friend and when I lost him, a piece of me left with him. He was shot in the head at the age of six.
