We're In This Together

Rita Andreacci Spina did not know how her world would change when her mother was struck and killed in 1924 by a hay wagon on the streets of Brooklyn. She was only 2 months old. But her nine surviving siblings, especially her two oldest sisters, would make sure the family stayed intact. "We're all in this together!" was the statement made by her oldest sister Mary, and they were, through the Great Depression and a world war. Rita's story has much in common with the stories of many children of Italian immigrants to New York in the early 20th century. Her story is stitched together with sage wisdom and keen wit.
