Beskrivelse af The Other Shore (1873)
The Other Shore is a novel written by Anna Bartlett Warner and first published in 1873. It tells the story of two sisters, Ellen and Kate, who are orphaned and left to live with their uncle, a wealthy merchant. Ellen is pious and devoted to her Christian faith, while Kate is more interested in worldly pleasures and material possessions. As they grow older, Ellen falls in love with a young minister, while Kate becomes engaged to a wealthy man. However, their lives are turned upside down when Ellen contracts a serious illness and is sent to a sanatorium to recover. While there, she meets a young man who challenges her beliefs and causes her to question her faith.Meanwhile, Kate's engagement falls apart and she is left alone and struggling to find her place in the world. As the sisters navigate their respective challenges, they must also confront the question of what truly matters in life and where their priorities lie.The Other Shore is a poignant and thought-provoking novel that explores themes of faith, love, and the pursuit of happiness. It offers a powerful message about the importance of staying true to oneself and finding meaning and purpose in life, even in the face of adversity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
