Beskrivelse af The Far Cry (1916)
The Far Cry is a novel written by Henry Milner Rideout and first published in 1916. The story is set in the early 20th century and follows the adventures of a young American man named John Geste, who travels to the remote regions of British India to join his brothers in a diamond-mining operation. However, upon his arrival, John discovers that his brothers have become embroiled in a dangerous conflict with the local tribes and are being held captive. Determined to rescue his brothers, John sets out on a perilous journey through the rugged terrain of the Indian wilderness. Along the way, he encounters a variety of colorful characters, including a beautiful British woman named Helena, who becomes his ally and confidante. Together, they navigate the treacherous landscape and face numerous challenges, including hostile tribes, dangerous wildlife, and treacherous terrain. As John and Helena draw closer to their goal, they must also confront their own feelings for each other and grapple with the complex social and political issues of colonial India. Ultimately, The Far Cry is a thrilling adventure story that explores the themes of courage, loyalty, and the struggle for survival in a hostile environment. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
