Beskrivelse af The Code Of Hammurabi
The Code of Hammurabi is a book written by L.W. King that contains a complete translation of the ancient Babylonian legal code of Hammurabi, who ruled Babylon from 1792-1750 BCE. The code consists of 282 laws that were carved on a stele and placed in public view for all to see. The laws cover a wide range of topics including marriage, property, trade, and crime. The book provides an insight into the society and culture of ancient Babylon and the way in which justice was administered. It also includes an introduction that provides historical context and background information on the code. The Code of Hammurabi is considered one of the earliest known legal codes and is still studied and referenced by scholars today.2. If any one bring an accusation against a man, and the accused go to the river and leap into the river, if he sink in the river his accuser shall take possession of his house. But if the river prove that the accused is not guilty, and he escape unhurt, then he who had brought the accusation shall be put to death, while he who leaped into the river shall take possession of the house that had belonged to his accuser. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
