Beskrivelse af Press Cuttings
Press Cuttings is a satirical play written by George Bernard Shaw in 1909. The play is set in a fictional European country where suffragettes are fighting for the right to vote. The story revolves around the Prime Minister of the country, who is trying to suppress the suffragette movement by imprisoning its leaders. However, the suffragettes are not willing to give up, and they continue to fight for their rights through various means, including kidnapping the Prime Minister's daughter. The play is a commentary on the political and social issues of the time, and Shaw uses humor and wit to criticize the government's treatment of women and their struggle for equality. The play is a fast-paced comedy that offers a unique perspective on the suffragette movement and the fight for women's rights.MITCHENER (intolerantly). No I wont hang it all. It's no use coming to me and talking about public opinion. You have put yourself into the hands of the army; and you are committed to military methods. And the basis of all military methods is that when people wont do what they are told to do, you shoot them down. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
