Beskrivelse af Our American Cousin
""Our American Cousin: A Drama, In Three Acts"" is a play written by English playwright Tom Taylor in 1869. The play is set in mid-19th century America and follows the story of a young Englishman named Lord Dundreary who travels to America to visit his distant relatives. Along the way, he meets a cast of eccentric characters, including his American cousins, who introduce him to the customs and culture of their country. The play is known for its comedic dialogue and satirical portrayal of American society at the time. However, it is most famous for its connection to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. On April 14, 1865, Lincoln was watching a performance of ""Our American Cousin"" at Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. when he was shot and killed by John Wilkes Booth. Despite its tragic association with one of the most significant events in American history, ""Our American Cousin"" continues to be performed and enjoyed as a classic piece of 19th century theatre. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
