Beskrivelse af Massimilla Doni
Massimilla Doni is a novel written by the French author Honor de Balzac. The story is set in Venice and revolves around two Frenchmen, Count Mosca and the Marquis de San-Real, who are both in love with the beautiful Massimilla Doni. Massimilla is a wealthy and talented singer who is adored by many men in Venice, but she only has eyes for one man, the young and handsome Prince Gandolphini. As the story progresses, Count Mosca and the Marquis de San-Real both try to win Massimilla's heart, but she remains steadfast in her love for the Prince. However, when the Prince falls ill, Massimilla turns to the Count for help, and he uses this opportunity to try and win her over. Throughout the novel, Balzac explores themes of love, jealousy, and the power of music. The book is part of Balzac's larger work, La Comdie Humaine, which is a collection of novels and stories that explore French society during the 19th century. Massimilla Doni is considered one of Balzac's finest works and is praised for its vivid descriptions of Venice and its characters. It is a must-read for fans of French literature and those interested in exploring the complexities of love and human relationships. This was an untenable position. Cataneo, who only looked for a duchess, thought himself ridiculous as a husband; and, when Massimilla complained of this indifference, he calmly bid her look about her for a cavaliere servente, even offering his services to introduce to her some youths from whom to choose. The Duchess wept; the Duke made his bow. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
