Beskrivelse af Francesca Of Rimini
Francesca of Rimini is a poem written by Arthur Sherburne Hardy in 1878. The poem tells the tragic love story of Francesca da Polenta, daughter of the Lord of Ravenna, and her lover Paolo Malatesta. The story takes place in the 13th century in Rimini, Italy. Francesca is married off to Gianciotto Malatesta, Paolo's older brother, in a political alliance. However, Francesca and Paolo fall in love and begin an affair. When Gianciotto discovers their secret, he kills them both in a fit of rage. The poem is written in blank verse and is divided into five cantos. It explores themes of love, betrayal, and the consequences of passion. Hardy's writing style is descriptive and lyrical, with vivid imagery and emotional depth. The poem has been praised for its beauty and tragic intensity, and has been adapted into various forms of art, including operas and paintings. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
