Chapters in this volume trace the history of women''s participation in business and highlight how Pentecostalism serves as a major motivating factor. The central argument is that there is a way in which selected women''s businesses are ""powered by the Spirit."" Contributors to the volume utilize case studies of selected Pentecostal churches and ministries to highlight how the religious ideologies of these churches galvanize them to engage in business. They also draw patterns of similarity and difference across the different Pentecostal churches. The volume demonstrates how Pentecostalism both facilitates and militates against women''s participation in business concerning a specific setting in Zimbabwe.""This is an unparalleled, ground-breaking book that makes visible how, despite challenges, women in Pentecostal churches, ''powered by faith,'' have broken the yoke of femininity of entrapment and adopted femininity of self-invention that lands them in entrepreneurship. The book is an important resource for scholars, students, and professionals interested in religion, gender, and economics.""--Nisbert Taisekwa Taringa, Professor of Religious Studies and Fulbright Alumni, University of ZimbabweTapiwa Praise Mapuranga is an associate professor in religion and gender in the Department of Religious Studies, Classics, and Philosophy at the University of Zimbabwe. With singular and penetrating perspective, Malika Warda delivers genuine insight into the nature of soul and the limitless potential of human beings as entities within the universe. With every page offering readers a fresh view of life, death, and the will of God, Malika peels back the layers of the mystery, continuously opening us to an awareness and faith in the absolute divinity of the spirit. With unerring accuracy, her words strike a chord deep within, impressing upon readers the infinite vastness of space and time, while often painting them as obstacles to overcome through exploration of the self, truly inspiring us to expand consciousness.Malika''s works, often playful, are infused with aspects of darkness and light; sweetness and sensuality, weaving boundless wisdom into elegant script that transmutes the dualistic aspects of the natural world to capture the essence of Oneness. Malika opens the heart with authenticity and depth and speaks to the intuition inherent in all beings.""Malika has the unique gift of putting the unsaid into words and hitting the spot that you couldn''t locate before. Her words are soft and strong at the same time, radiating from the true artistic soul that she is.""--Madeleine Alizadeh, Activist, Podcaster of A Mindful Mess, DesignerMalika Imad Warda lives her life to honor the truth that permeates existence in all that she does. Malika''s writing began spontaneously through the practice of meditation, where she began to translate the experiences; these writings often came through in the form of poetry or insights. This process has continued to unfold organically over the years, taking many forms, but it has ultimately become a way to express the deeper truths of love and acceptance she has come to know. Malika teaches meditation and yoga, and also produces music, as a way to help connect people to the deeper essence of their being.

208,95 kr. We cannot solve the problem of plastics simply by recycling more. The plastic in the oceans, the soil, and our bodies is a symptom of the broader problem of disposable culture. We are not just treating objects as disposable--we are treating ourselves and each other as disposable, too. The story of plastics parallels the story of my life, from my childhood living aboard a sailboat to graduate work on plastics and endocrine disruption, and ultimately teaching about plastics, not only as a complex set of chemicals, but as a spiritual poison.""Sasha weaves a narrative that explores relationships between the material and social sciences with unexpected connectivity, powerfully referencing personal experience. . . . Sasha''s book is an intellectual deep dive that will strengthen your belief that single-use plastics must cease to be.""--Marcus Eriksen, Research Director, The 5 Gyres Institute""This compelling study connects crucial dots between theology and biochemistry, our waste-stream and bloodstream, and the economics of disposability and the anthropology of instrumentality. It shows how plastics mirror both our technological ingenuity and our dysfunctional, addictive, and ecocidal disingenuousness. Adkins argues that the antidote is to rebuild a culture of relationship--beginning with our own trash. I commend this essay for study groups, because the personal and political problem of plastics touches each of us and is determining our collective fate.""--Ched Myers, Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries""From Disposable Culture to Disposable People is a passionate cry from scientist and scholar Sasha Adkins demanding that we recognize the poisoning of our planet by those very convenient plastics embedded ubiquitously and deeply within our culture.""--David Hilfiker, authorSasha Adkins is a lecturer at the Institute of Environmental Sustainability, Loyola University Chicago.
