Her other honors and awards include: Certificate of Award in Journalism; Special Achievement Award; and Letter of Commendation. Mary's artistic honors and awards include: World of Poetry, (4) Golden Poet Awards and (1) Honorable Mention Award; publication as Photo Finalist in Photographer Forum Magazine Annual Edition; Certificate of Merit, for Outstanding Lyric Writing from Talent & Associated and Caldora Music Publishing Companies; also Poetry Honorable Mention, Write-On Magazine. After an unfortunate disability, Mary decided to combine her talents to start her own business. Through it all Luisa, mother, sister, wife, grandmother observes changes in the church, in styles, and in the people she loves. The last half of the book consists of short stories, some humorous and some tragic, of the author's experiences including the many faces of marriage, uniquely Colombian witchcraft and apparitions. Most of the people leading the United States of America graduated from the best colleges and universities, and you'd think they'd be willing and capable of making wise decisions.But most of our founding fathers didn't attend Harvard, Yale or any other institution of higher learning; they made decisions that created the greatest nation on earth using common sense, good judgment and perhaps a little help from God. This cookbook was assembled for my children. My old Davidis cookbook is printed in German Fraktur font, the pages have yellowed, and the terms are often hard to understand even in modern German. The recipes I selected were used in my home. Most of the instructions in this cookbook were listed for households that had several kitchen helpers, and they had to prepare the meals from butchering a rabbit, chicken, and deer. It contains social-etiquette suggestions in regard to entertaining tea parties, dances, and great dinners. It lists menus for every day of the year, a simple table, and a rich table. These instructions were for us children great reading and amusement. However, I can find our recipes easily by the smudged and dog-eared pages. My grandparents had no kitchen helpers. They were of the class of industrial workers. Everyone worked physically hard and needed good nourishment. Both families valued good-quality meals. To celebrate holidays, special dishes and cakes were a custom. And these are the traditional cakes that I introduced. The sauerbraten is the Christmas roast, the stollen is the Christmas bread, and best of all, goodies are the spiced cookies. In my household, I treasure the simple cooking utensils, dishes, and tablecloth handmade by my mother. Many items are still from the households of my grandmothers, therefore Rhenish pottery. I hope to give a sense of this tradition of a Rhenish household from the 1900s to our modern families.

"Selfness" is today regarded as a myth of dubious origin, and material reality is believed to be primary to one's awareness of it. SEIZING THE ESSENCE makes the case that all knowledge is proprietary to the self, and that physical reality is an intellectual construct of Value which is the individual´s perspective of Essence. The author bases his cosmology on a principle first postulated by the 15th century logician Nicholas of Cusa which deals with a "not-other" that is the coincidence of all otherness.
