He was water baptized at an Army chapel, at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, by an Air Force chaplain. Hugh retired from active duty, in the United States Air Force, as a Senior Master Sergeant, and then he later retired from the United States Postal Service. He has enjoyed serving in many churches, ranging from being an usher to a Sunday school superintendent. Hugh and his wife, Phyllis, live in Granbury, Texas. They have two grown children, four grandchildren, and two beautiful great granddaughters.
