Beskrivelse af Erris Starship
Before tragedy stole them away, intrigue was the most devout follower of Conor McCarthy's scandalously young parents from the moment they stumbled into each other's lives. They first crossed paths and swords, on a tiny beach that's still as far from the madding crowds as most of us are ever likely to get. However, the abrupt shift from cherished and possibly cosseted late Generation Z nine year old into orphan with serious issues, has much muddied the waters of his recollection. His bizarrely quaint and placid nurturing was the first casualty in a war that morphed so many meaningful memories into abstract mysteries of someone else's life over time.Too many child psychologists and too few good foster homes has now produced a teenager who is as hard and calloused as his adopted Dublin streets. The future now facing him is one that his devoted parents would frown upon and possibly as a result of that, Conor is often haunted by the vision of his beautiful and adoring mother. Like most of his peers, this adolescent already knows everything, apart from the fact that destiny has apparently intervened in his life, though when that intervention occurred is as much a mystery as the details of how his parents first met. Regardless however, the fallout from his much altered circumstances will ultimately compel him to set his sights so high that he can choose a future that would be considered unimaginable by any mere mortal.Children are blessed to probably be blissfully unaware of how their parents suffer through worry. There is no reassurance in the sure knowledge that each child will ultimately share their future with total strangers, with histories as different from ours as we are from them. Conor McCarthy is now sixteen but destiny has set him on course to meet strangers who will alter not just his but all futures. The Erris Starship effortlessly bridges the chasm between a perceived teenage city slicker scumbag and his conservative agricultural cousins struggling in a comparative wilderness, but that's just the aperitif. The entree introduces us to much vaster vistas, such as the voids between stars and unsurprisingly, between their exotic indigenous cultures. Meanwhile, the role of evolution is fearlessly expounded upon to knock on even loftier doors. This is not a minor eBook. It is a very significant work that establishes new milestones in cutting edge SF pertinent to how evolution deals so equitably with us and viable alien cultures together with the logically limitless self development potential of Sentient Artificial Intelligence.Regardless of the unique storytelling skills of the author in presenting a mind-blowing story with a cast of characters to do it justice, anyone who professes a genuine interest in the subject is obliged to ingest this work to simply keep up to speed. Casual readers trying to satisfy the more modest aspiration of being simply taken away from their cares for a while are invited to prepare a warm beverage before opening these pages. That's because they are about to discover that time is not the constant that we all assume it to be and they may get quite thirsty later.
