Volume II of the Letters presents more than 700 letters, covering the period from June 1913 to October 1916, from the enthusiastic reception of Sons and Lovers to the completion of the first manuscript of Women in Love. Over two hundred letters are previously unpublished.

The Cambridge Edition of the Letters of D. H. Lawrence contain, in eight volumes, accurate annotated texts of the complete letters of one of the twentieth century's most significant writers. The letters span the years from 1901 to 1930 and concern public and political events of the time, as well as Lawrence's own life and writing.

Volume I of the Letters, edited by James T. Boulton, gives the first 580 letters in the series, covering the period September 1901 to May 1913. Professor Boulton's discreet annotation conceals an enormous labour of patient detection. There are over thirty photographs of his friends and correspondents.

This final volume of The Letters of D. H. Lawrence publishes 148 recently-discovered letters to or from Lawrence, corrects errors in earlier volumes, and offers a comprehensive critical index to the entire edition. This volume brings the Cambridge Edition of Lawrence's letters to a fitting conclusion.

An authoritative selection of letters by one of the great English letter-writers, first published in 1997, is also available in paperback.

This volume covers the three years from March 1924 to March 1927. In 1924 Lawrence is again in the USA, but his health soon begins to fail, and he and Frieda return to Europe and settle in Italy. The volume provides annotation identifying persons and allusions, and a biographical introduction.
